Eclipse: A Unique Wall Lamp Inspired by Solar Eclipses

A Symbolic Representation of Time and Light

The Eclipse wall lamp, designed by Ziqiang He, draws inspiration from the captivating phenomenon of solar eclipses. With its innovative design and adjustable brightness, this lamp offers a unique and artistic addition to any space.

The Eclipse wall lamp stands out from other lighting fixtures with its distinctive design and symbolic representation of time and light. Consisting of two parts, the lamp represents the sun, while the black metal frame symbolizes the moon. As time passes, the frame rotates around the axis, partially or completely blocking the light emitted by the lamp. This rotation creates a mesmerizing effect similar to a solar eclipse, reflecting the passage of time while adjusting the brightness of the light.

What sets the Eclipse wall lamp apart is its versatility. In addition to the automatic rotation, users can manually adjust the angle of the frame or control it through a mobile app. This allows for personalized brightness settings and adds an interactive element to the lamp's functionality.

The design of the Eclipse wall lamp incorporates modern technology to bring the concept to life. The lamp body features a built-in power supply and switch design, while LED arrays emit the light. The lampshade is made of matte plastic, and the frame is crafted from sleek black metal. An angle sensor on the rotation axis controls the LED lights, creating the captivating eclipse effect.

With dimensions of 60 mm x 15 mm x 60 mm, the Eclipse wall lamp is compact and versatile, making it suitable for various spaces. It can be powered by a 5V 1A DC power supply or its built-in rechargeable battery with a capacity of 1800mAH.

Ziqiang He, the designer behind Eclipse, embarked on extensive research to ensure the design's uniqueness and feasibility. The project began in September 2019 and was exhibited at the School of Design and Art of Beijing Institute of Technology in January 2020. He delved into the symbolic meaning of solar eclipses in different cultures and explored the technical possibilities of using angle sensors for brightness adjustment.

The Eclipse wall lamp has garnered recognition for its exceptional design. In 2020, it was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures category. This prestigious accolade is bestowed upon well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The Eclipse wall lamp's integration of industry best practices, competent technical characteristics, and its ability to evoke fulfillment and positive emotions contribute to a better world.

With its captivating design and symbolic representation of time and light, the Eclipse wall lamp is a true testament to the fusion of art, architecture, and technology. It not only illuminates spaces but also sparks conversations and adds a touch of elegance and sophistication to any environment.
